Since 2018 we have already attracted big acts to Lighthorne. Siobhan Millar was the headline act of our first big event at the village hall in March of that year, and Geoff Lakeman played our first 'folk-club-evening' at the pub in September. Steve is a multi-award winning singer-songwriter and musician, and a giant among folk performers. In 2010, Steve won Best Song at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and in 2014 he was named the "Songwriter of the '90s" by BBC Radio 2's Tom Robinson (other winners were Bob Dylan for the '60s, David Bowie '70s, Prince '80s). As well as a fantastic solo performer, Steve is one half of duo Show of Hands (BBC R2 Best Duo, 2010) who boast 25 album releases, 2 Honorary Doctorates, 3 BBC Folk Awards and 4 Royal Albert Hall sell-outs.
Eclectic foursome stopped off in Lighthorne as part of a UK tour. Banjo, guitar, bass, trumpet, cajon, close-harmony vocals and more.
They amazed everybody with music for the head and the heart, full of passion, meaning and originality.
The grammy nominated artist wowed the audience with her haunting songs and amazing musicianship.
A fine story teller and musician, Geoff regaled the audience with stories and songs from his time on Fleet Street, his Cornish home and his role as patriach of the Lakeman dynasty.
The only three time winner of the Scotts Trad Music Awards entertained everyone with her haunting voice and musicality.
